E-Lottery and Elgordo Lotto — a Guide

Posted on Friday 13 November 2009

If this is the first time you’ve come across the part of the Euromillions Euro lotto that is the Elgordo Loteria, you absolutely need to learn more. Famed for one of the world’s biggest jackpots, this game of chance offers pots ranging from 84 million to 2.6 billion Euros. Nor is this the lottery’s only claim to fame! With more than 13,000 prizes available, your odds of winning something work out to around one in every six. When compared with the prizes given by other lotteries, that’s nothing to be scorned.

Once per month the Euromillions Euro lotto holds its draw. But three months each year play host to bigger draws for grander prizes. Largest of all the draws is “Elgordo” which is held around Christmas, while the other two special drawings are set for January – “El Nio” – and in summer (“San Ildefonso”).

Unlike other Euro lotto systems, the Elgordo lottery uses balls with five digits printed on each in a range from 00,000 to 84,999. The system employs two bowls, one being used to determine the winning ticket, the second the amount.

To enter the draw, one option is a full ticket, called a “serie”. You can also choose the more affordable option known as a “décimo”, valued at one-tenth of a full ticket. These choices have the same chance of winning, although the payout varies according to what you spend to begin with. This is the reason that the e-lottery scheme is popular with many Euromillions Euro lottery players.

Using this system, you’re guaranteed to win a prize. Just buy into the Elgordo Lotto syndicate and you’ll be divided into teams. Each team is assigned a number from zero to nine, the last digit of the winning number in the draw being used to identify the team which wins the prize. This money is divided equally among the team. Everyone renews their subscription for the next month’s lottery and it starts all over again. Some players are hesitant on hearing that they would have to share these big pots. The thing is, there’s still plenty to go around when the original prize was more than two and a half billion Euros. With a guaranteed win at every draw, the e-lottery syndicate system is both less of a worry and more affordable. There just isn’t any more effective way to play…
