12 Bones Smokehouse brings good taste to visitors of Asheville vacation rentals.
If you’re a barbecue lover, and you’ve researched Asheville vacation rentals and found a great deal for your trip, it’s time to plan your visit to 12 Bones Smokehouse in Asheville, North Carolina.
You’ll recognize this spot by the long line of customers waiting outside the door. Located at 5 Riverside Drive, open only weekdays 11 to 4, the wait to place your order often averages half an hour. True to the barbecue joint ethos, with concrete floors and old Formica-top tables, 12 Bones has sparse and eclectic decoration. The atmosphere is casual to the point of being laid-back. “Nothing says love like a rack of ribs,” the chalkboard might sagely advise. It’s all about the food.
Although many barbecue establishments offer sauce to be added at your table, 12 Bones Smokehouse takes an independent approach. The sauce is cooked smothering the meat for a long, slow lingering time. The result is the most tender and flavorful baby back ribs, pulled pork, chicken, turkey and beef brisket you’ve ever tasted.
There’s diversity in the sauces too (tomato, jalapeo, mustard, and vinegar). The menu features a range of tasty smoked meats as well as vegetarian items. Delicious sides include collard greens, corn pudding, and “mashed sweet taters”. All sides and desserts are made from scratch. A typical order includes two sides and cornbread, so don’t go thinking you’re leaving this place hungry, not gonna happen! Take-out service is available.
Tom Montgomery and his wife, Sabra Kelley, own 12 Bones Smokehouse. Sabra and Tom’s popular blueberry-chipotle ribs won the “Best Bites Challenge” in a recent contest on ABC-TV’s Good Morning America.
