Graduation Hats
The most common forms of graduation hats seen at the graduation ground are flat top caps and tams. The hats have distinctive features and are used for specific functions. Graduation tams for instance are normally made from soft material put together in a round shaped that has either six or eight sides. The flat square cap on the other hand has four or six sides and is normally made of stiff board, some light material plus a ribbon strip. However, both graduation hats usually come with a tassel that can have some extra decorations such as the bullion that has the year of graduation inscribed.
In terms of ownership of graduation hats, the flat top caps are generally designated for the individuals who are going to receive their first and second level college degrees. Graduation tams on the other hand are worn by individuals who are going to receive their doctorate degrees or the faculty members who are post doctorate fellows. However, it is wise for graduates to know their head size so that they can get a hat that fits them well during the ceremony. The tassels on the hats should also be worn correctly during and after the ceremony.
