Lace Wigs for an Attitude Refresher

Posted on Sunday 12 July 2009

Our group of friends didn’t think the radiant Chandra Utsinger, my life-long soul mate, could own and wear wigs. Her extravagant hair and fashion added so much to her mystique. Have you seen her lately? There’s no question she will always be known because of her style. Only a handful of souls realize she wears lace wigs. Guess it’s no secret anymore.

Back in the day as kids growing up in high school, we once knocked ‘em dead. Of course, until her alopecia reared its head and she went bald. I recommended some lace front wigs. But you know, balding was no big deal to her. What a strong soul, she aggressively fully owned her attitude.

At the school’s baseball championship, we flirted with the crowd till some kluts clumsily flung the puck (or whatever you call it) at the crowd. Quick on her feet, she jumped up for it when her bandana fell off, revealing her naked head. No big deal, she hurled the thing with a tremendous heave back to the field. Attitude, did I mention she’s got it?

Of course, everyone has insecurities. Months later she invited me over for a game of bridge, when she grabbed my arm and confided that she prefers to make do with a shorn head out of bitterness. She missed her natural hair too much to become dependent on wigs from human hair, secretly acknowledging she wanted her own hair back. At that disclosure, she became beet pink in the face and begged that I dismiss the notion. I didn’t know what to say.

There was no way to get her words out of my head. Shortly after, I IM’d with her about going shopping with me for a new lace front wig. After a long deliberation the two of us came to the obvious conclusion: we’d buy each other wigs I used my credit card, and it was worth it.

Not sure who was more stunned by the possibilities. I didn’t realize that women’s medical wigs are so confidence inspiring for beautiful people and famous actors. These lace front wigs were exactly what she needed. I built an entirely new wardrobe around my wig. Out of solidarity, if you haven’t heard. The other day she gave me a photo of us in our wigs and thanked me for giving her back her hair, and disclosed that it encourages a lost identity that she’d forgotten. It’s delightful to watch little miss attitude live a happier existence. Can’t wait to see that infamous “toss ‘n turn” again.
