Pillow Talk Live: Things Looking up Thanks to Great Expectations

Posted on Sunday 31 May 2009

Firstly, You couldn’t describe me as pleasantly comfortable living alone and not crack a smile. But, I’m not unhappy about it, either. I only mention it in this blog as a delicious personal tidbit foreshadowing what I am prepared to reveal to you

This time last week I was walking the dog, Stacey, thinking of joining Great Expectations Dallas. You prolly couldn’t guess that, I stand to the blogosphere as a fully satisfied member of the singles network. No kidding, I am. I like it! If you’ve been paying attention, you may be wondering, “You totally owe me an explanation.”

Here’s how it went down, I saw this Great Expectations Dating site and can really get behind their approach. They’re for the serious singles who know dating should mean something.

Because in all honesty I’d never been interested in the ridiculous nightlife ritual most people have christened “The Dating Game.” I faced it more than you know. Every night readers nagg, “Are you two serious yet?” and “You should date!”

“Ugh, and double ugh.” I banter right back, smiling ear to ear. “There’s nothing to date!”

“You’re as ridiculous as you are hilarious,” they say. “How would you know, you haven’t seen Friday Night Magic in a year!”

That’s just my partner in crime (she’s the best) hah! Patty McCarthy. She pours rational thought to my mind to put me back on course. Loved ones never fail to offer perspective. She made a good point, so I signed up.

Back to the meaning of this post. As I selected from more than three hundred combinations of outfits for my first date with Great Expectations, something occurred to me that was quite deep. For years, I hadn’t entertained too many emotional great expectations for dating and myself in the adventurous journey of being alive. Being single isn’t so bad, specifically with healthy optimism. Embracing your own great expectations makes a difference for those who believe.
