Professional drivers who are worried their working hours could lead to an accident and subsequent van insurance claim are being invited to have their say on current legislation in this area.
The government consultation is not expected to result in changes to the law.
However, the country’s leaders have indicated it will be employed to help them form future policies.
Current rules set limits to how long workers can spend behind the wheel and are intended to promote competition between firms and good working conditions.
The new review was announced by transport minister Paul Clark.
He stated: “The domestic drivers’ hours rules affect thousands of workers across the UK, so it is vital that they are effective in keeping drivers, passengers and other road users safe.”
Meanwhile, people who ensure they take regular breaks and do not get behind the wheel when tired may find they are in a better position to protect their cheap van insurance premiums.
Drivers who expect to be taking out van insurance for a new vehicle in the coming months but have not yet decided which model to opt for may be inspired by the choice of one utilities company.
