Wearing an All Black Watch

Posted on Thursday 24 September 2009

Trends in the watch industry are often used to track how well the economy is doing. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that one of the biggest trends in watches right now is the all-black look. We’re talking black face, black strap and sometimes even a tinted piece of glass. Here we’ll take a look at a list of blacked-out watches that, despite being a little on the somber side, definitely represent a cool look that is both understated and sleek.

I think that most people are now loving the black on black watch. Wearing a men’s black watch some years ago might have given people the impression that you were in the military or just trying to be James Bond. Slowly acceptance of all black watches has come around and they have started to filter into the mainstream of fashion.

PVD or Physical Vapor Deposition is what most of the stainless steel or titanium watches have been coated in. This gives them that shimmering glare that they are known to give off. PVD was used first in the metals industry, being founded in the 1960’s this technology has been around for a long time. Some black watches are now considered collector’s items especially the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Paneri PAM 004.
